the Kiddy beat the Shrimpers at Roots Hall on Friday, 7.45 kick-off. Job done.
Nervy last ten minutes as always but we saw it out. Keeper had very little to do, which tells you everything. Not vintage, but we defended properly and took what came.
Official attendance 9,155. Never a quick trip to Southend United. Friday nights at Roots Hall are a hard sell but a few of us turned out.
Deserved it. Simple as. Don't get carried away, but that was good.
